The free shuttle has been replaced by the Newport Loop. It is free to lodging guests, and costs $1 a ride for others. Except Thanksgiving and Christmas it runs every day of the year, ten hours a day, from south beach (Newport Business Plaza near the South Beach State Park) to the State Police in Agate Beach. It goes to all low income housing, to senior living complexes, to hospital and doctor offices, Fred Meyer, Safeway, Rite Aide, WalMart, AND to Nye Beach, the Bay Front, and South Beach...stopping seven times a day at each location!
